Author is a writing room for novels, novellas and short stories. These pages explain how to use it. They describe early access, so they say plainly what needs a plan and what is not offered.

> [!HONEST]
> Author has no built-in AI. On **Premium and Max**, your own AI can work on your books through Geenius OS. Everything else, including the story engine and the continuity checks, is deterministic and works without any AI.

## Where to start

- New here? Read [Getting started](/docs/getting-started/). It takes about thirty minutes.
- Curious how a character's state is worked out? Read [Events and state](/docs/events-and-state/).
- Want your AI to help? Read [Use with your AI](/docs/use-with-your-ai/).
- Looking for a tool or an argument? The [reference](/docs/reference/books/) lists every tool and action.
- Stuck? Try [Troubleshooting](/docs/troubleshooting/) or the [glossary](/docs/glossary/).

## For AI assistants

Every page here is also available as Markdown: add `.md` to its address. The site publishes [llms.txt](/llms.txt) with the list and [llms-full.txt](/llms-full.txt) with everything in one file.
